This week marks Great Big Green Week 2021, so at Baltic Creative CIC we’ve been reflecting on the ways we can take action on climate change. As part of this, we were more than happy to sign a pledge with Shift Liverpool to become a more sustainable and regenerative organisation.

Shift Liverpool is a sustainability network, founded by Metal, for cultural organisations in the Liverpool City Region. Alex Christey-Kelly, Operations Officer for Baltic Creative, is our representative within the network and will be attending meetings to gain knowledge and make recommendations. Alex will then work with the rest of the team to follow-up and take appropriate action, adapting our procedures to be more environmentally friendly.

Becoming part of the Shift Liverpool network is a fantastic opportunity to work collectively with other organisations to promote carbon reduction and move away from environmentally damaging ways of working. Over 50 organisations across the Liverpool City Region have now signed the pledge, many of which are based here in the Baltic Creative and Northern Lights communities.

Alongside this, we are working with Changing Streams and PHD students from the University of Liverpool to update our policies and procedures. We can’t wait to share more of our actions with you in the coming months!

If you’re interested in finding out more or want to sign the pledge yourself, visit the Shift Liverpool website.
