Joseph Cookson has been awarded the Baltic Creative prize for his outstanding performance in the 2nd year of his degree course in Architectural Technology at Liverpool John Moores University – particularly in design based modules such as “Sustainable Architectural Technology” and “Building Refurbishment and Design”. In both modules Joe applied contextual knowledge and awareness of environmental, social and technological aspects to produce a high quality portfolio of architectural and construction drawings for new and adapted buildings.
Overall the Architectural Technology degree course at LJMU seeks to produce graduates who can combine a flair for design in the built environment with an understanding about sustainable construction materials, building performance and access requirements to create modern, sustainable and inclusive buildings. Joe is proceeding to his final year where he will combine his technical skills and knowledge to produce designs for a new maritime building on Liverpool’s waterfront.
