Liverpool SOUP is a volunteer-led micro-funding event which raises cash and support for grass-root ideas and projects across the Liverpool City Region.
Attendees make a donation on the door, listen to four local pitches and deliberate who to vote for, all over a bowl of soup! The project which earns the most votes is then awarded 100% of the donations taken on the door.
At their last event in January, over 100 attendees raised almost £1.7k for Sole Survivor who run PTSD support groups. Liverpool SOUP were able to give £100 to the other three projects to thank them for sharing their projects and had enough to pay the local musicians to take to the stage once the winner was announced.
In order for them to be able to donate 100% of the money taken on the door to the winning project, they work with a sponsor for each Liverpool SOUP event to cover the cost of the venue and soup (£500). They’re really keen to work with local businesses who understand the value of investing in local people and communities.
