We are delighted to announce the installation of a defibrillator at the Baltic Creative Campus.
The Automated External Defibrillator (AED) is housed outside Baltic Creative’s Management Office at 49 Jamaica Street (near to 92 Degrees toilets). It will be locked in a cabinet but anybody who needs it will be able to access it using a key provided by either the Baltic Creative or 92 Degrees staff.
Several staff and tenants were first-aid trained in November 2021, and were shown how to use the AED and provide CPR. We take health and safety seriously at Baltic Creative and see this facility as an essential measure that could potentially save lives.
As this is an automated machine, anyone can use it! We have installed signage next to the cabinet which explains what to do. The machine will also talk you through every step as soon as you turn it on.
Our machine was purchased from the British Heart Foundation and is registered on their circuit. According to the British Heart Foundation, the high energy shock that is produced by defibrillators plays an essential role in trying to save the life of someone who’s in cardiac arrest – for every minute that it takes for the equipment to reach someone and deliver a shock, their chances of survival reduce by up to 10%.

The British Heart Foundation’s 4 steps to take if someone is having a cardiac arrest.
- Call 999
- Start CPR
- Ask someone to bring a defibrillator if there’s one nearby (if no one is available to get one, listen to the emergency operator for further instructions)
- Turn on the defibrillator and follow its instructions.
